🏛️ What is the 8th Pay Commission?
The 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) reviews and revises the salary, allowances, and pension of ~50 lakh Central Government employees and ~65 lakh pensioners. The commission is set up every 10 years. The 8th CPC is expected to take effect from January 1, 2026, following the 7th CPC which was implemented in January 2016.

🚌 Transport Allowance (TA)

💸 NPS — National Pension System
Employee contributes 10% of (Basic + DA). Government contributes 14% as employer share. Both go into the NPS corpus and are not counted as in-hand salary. On retirement, 60% can be withdrawn tax-free; remaining 40% must be used to purchase annuity.
💉 CGHS Contribution (Monthly)
- Level 1–5: ₹250/month

- Level 7–11: ₹650/month
